Lino Camprubí (1981, Madrid, Spain) is a Spanish professor of history and philosophy of science at the University of Seville.
He is known for his book Los ingenieros de Franco and for leading the ERC-CoG DEEPMED research group, on the history of science and strategy in the depths of the Mediterranean Sea.
He is the grandson of Spanish philosopher Gustavo Bueno.
He studied philosophy at the University of Seville.
After completing his doctoral studies at Cornell, he earned his Ph.D.
in History at the University of California, Los Angeles in 2011.
He has worked as a researcher at the Autonomous University of Barcelona as part of the TEUS Group and at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin.
He has been a visiting professor at the University of Chicago and at the IMERA Advanced Research Institute in Marseille.
He is the principal investigator of the ERC-CoG DEEPMED Project, funded with 1.8 million euros by the European Research Council.
He is a member of the Young Academy of Europe and the Young Academy of Spain.
His contributions in the history and philosophy of science range from connections between engineering and politics to relationships between oceanography and submarine warfare.
In addition to articles in specialized journals, he is the author of Engineers and the Making of the Francoist Regime (MIT Press, 2014) , Los ingenieros de Franco (Crítica, 2017) , and, with Javier Pérez-Jara, Science and Apocalypse in Bertrand Russell (Rowman and Littlefield, 2022).
He is the co-editor of Technology and Globalisation (Palgrave Economic History Series, 2018), From the Cold War to Global Warming (Catarata, 2018), and Contemporary Materialism: Its Ontology and Epistemology (Springer Synthese, 2022).
